The articles should follow the journal article template and use A4 page size in “MS Office Word 2010” or upper version. Margins should be Right, Left and Bottom 3 cm and top 5 cm.

Title

  • The title of the article should be descriptive of the article and reflect the basic concepts, discussions and main argument of the article.
  • If possible, it should not exceed 12 words.
  • It should be written with Cambria font, 12 font size, centered and the first letter of each word should be capitalized.
  • One blank line should be left before the Turkish title. The English title should be written below the Turkish title, leaving a blank line before and after it (or vice-versa if the article is written in English).
  • Articles and abstracts should only contain the title of the article and not the name of the author. In papers that were presented but not published at a meeting, the name, date and place of the meeting should be specified.
  • Authors should provide their information in the journal system, not in the text, their names, full and open institution addresses, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses and ORCID IDs. This information will not be sent to the referees.

Abstract

  • It should include a brief summary of each of the main parts of the article (introduction, findings and method, results, discussion and recommendations), allowing the reader to quickly and precisely determine the content of the article, ascertain its relevance to their own interests, and thus decide whether or not to read the article in its entirety.
  • The abstract should be prepared in 9 point with Cambria font, not less than 150 words and not more than 250 words.
  • Keywords: Keyword 1, Keyword 2, Keyword 3, Keyword 4, Keyword 5

Main Text

  • The text should be arranged in Cambria font, 10 pt, single line spacing, without paragraph indent and 6 pt. paragraph spacing first, then 3 pt. The parts that need to be emphasized in the text should be written in italics.
  • The main text should be between 5000-9000 words, excluding abstract, figure texts and bibliography.

Main and Sub-Headings

  • Main headings and sub-headings of the article should be bold and flush left (without indent), and numbered as 1.1., 1.1.1.
  • Each word in the heading must start with a capital letter. Including the title of the bibliography, all main headings and sub-headings should be 10 pt.
  • The article should use Cambria font, 10 pt. However, as a requirement of some fields, if a special font is used at the time of writing, these fonts should be uploaded to the system with the article.
  • One line space should be left before the main headings and no spaces should be left after them. No spaces should be left before and after subheadings.
  • The abbreviations to be used in the articles should be based on the TDK Spelling Guide.
  • If the number of words taken directly from a source in the article is less than 40 words, the expressions to be quoted should be shown in quotation marks.
  • Direct quotations exceeding 40 words in the article should be written in italics, 1.5 cm inside the right and left sides and in 9 pt. font size.

Figures

  1. The titles of the visuals used in the article should be in the bottom-middle and be named as Figure. (Cambria 10 point)..
  2. Figures should be numbered consecutively. These should be referred in the text as (Figure 1)
  3. Please do not add a blank line after figures.
  4. An appropriate short description should be used for each figure and the description should be written in mid-line with the number under the figure; in addition, if the figure is taken from another source, the source information should be included.
  5. If explanations and references are to be used after figures, they should be written in 10 points, below the figure.
  6. Figures and tables in the article should not exceed 20 in total.

Tables

  1. Tables should be numbered consecutively.
  2. Tables should be referred to in the text as (Table 1).
  3. An appropriate short description should be used for each table and its number should be written in mid-line above the table. In the title of the table, only the initial letters of each word should be written in capital (Table 1., Table 2.). Numbering should be in bold font and the title should be in normal font.
  4. Table explanation and references should be used in 10 font size below the table.
  5. If the table is taken from another source, the source information should also be included. Figures and tables in the article should not exceed 20 in total.
  6. Please do not add a blank line after tables. Text size in the table can vary between 8 and 10 points.

Notation and Abbreviations

The relative field of science should have standard notations and abbreviations or it should be defined in the first mention in the text. Where necessary, notation and abbreviations can be given in the Introduction or as a separate section following it.

Conclusion and Recommendations (Cambria, Bold, 10 points)

The conclusion should be written in Cambria, 10 points, without paragraph indent.

Bibliography should be written in Cambria 10 points, without paragraph indent, hanging, 1,25 cm, justified, single spaced.
One of the APA 6.0 and ISNAD 2 citation systems can be used for citation and reference in the articles to be sent to the Journal of Sociological Context. For this reason, it is recommended to use Zotero, Mendeley or Endnote programs in order for the articles to be submitted to be suitable for the reference system and in terms of international compliance. Extensive information about these programs is given above.

Citations Given to Other Works Within the Text

  • Citations should be made in the form of “(Author, 1999:113)” using the author’s surname, year and page.
  • In works with two authors, the surnames of the two authors should be used as “(Author and Author, 2000:120)”.
  • Works with more authors should be cited as “Author et al.” by giving only the surname of the first author, similarly by writing the year and page number.
  • The cited works should be listed alphabetically in the Bibliography section according to the surname of the first author.
  • For works with the same first author, the surnames of the second and subsequent authors should be used, respectively, to determine the order.
  • Works with the same authors should be listed according to their year from old to new.
  • The works with the same authors and the same years should be distinguished from each other as “1999a” and “1999b” using lowercase letters added to the end of the year.
  • Works with three or more authors with the same first author and year should be separated in the same way.
  • The entire text, including subheadings, excluding the endnote, should be written double-spaced.
  • In the text, paragraphs should begin flush-left.
  • Titles of books, journals, movies and TV shows are written in italics in the text. In addition, a new or technical term can be written in italics when it is first mentioned in the text. Do not italicize common expressions and abbreviations in English. For example, a priori, vis-a-vis etc. Do not use italics to emphasize an expression more in the text.
  • Using numbers: When beginning sentences, numerical expressions are given as words. For example: Twenty (…) of the fifty-two theses were on text analysis, the remaining 10 were on the political economy of production processes.
  • A double dash is used if information is given that interrupts a statement suddenly. For example: These two participants -one from the first group and the other from the second group- were tested separately.
  • Footnotes in the text are given by numbering on the relevant page; they are not put at the end of the text.
  • If there is only one appendix in the text, it can be titled in italics and can be included in the text as such. If there is more than one appendix, they can be listed as Appendix A, Appendix B. Titles should be given to these appendices at the end of the text. They should be indicated with tags in the main text.

Bibliography

  • The bibliography should include the surnames of all authors and the first letters of their other names. References should be written according to the examples below.
  • If there are many sources of the same author in the bibliography, the sources are written in order from the older to the newer date. The sources with the same date are listed by letter. For example: 2000a, 2000b.
  • If available, DOI numbers of the journals are written. For example: Anderson, A. K. (2005). Affective Influences on the Attentional Dynamics Supporting Awareness. Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 154, 258–281. doi: 10.1037 / 0096- 3445.134.2.258 Otherwise, url numbers are written. For example, FE: Journal of Feminist criticism url. http://cins.ankara.edu.tr/cansun.html
  • If the original dates of classical works (such as Marx, Freud) are known, they are given at the end of the source as follows: (Original work is dated 1846)
  • For authors with the same surname, the first letter of the name is given alphabetically before the bibliography, even if the publication is older. For example: Köker, E. (1998). Communication of Policy, Policy of Communication, Ankara: Vadi. Köker, L. (2007). Turkey’s Human Rights Problems in Law Reform Process. Human Rights Journalism, (ed.) Sevda Alankuş, Istanbul: IPS Foundation.
  • In the presentation of the books and reports in the bibliography, firstly, the place where they were published or then the name of the bookstore, publisher are given without specifying attachments such as “bookstore”, “publisher”, “publication” etc. For example: Ankara: Imge, London, UK: Routledge
